This hotel is a charming oasis just outside downtown Tamarindo, where I felt completely immersed in lush jungle surroundings and enjoyed the proximity to a quieter beach that felt almost private. The staff was welcoming and helpful, plus the breakfast was a delightful added bonus. However, I found the prices a bit steep for the overall experience, especially considering some limitations with the amenities and room conditions.

Rooms
7.0
The room had beautiful foliage surrounding it, creating a cozy and tranquil atmosphere. However, I found the accommodations a bit basic and underwhelming given the price.
Service
9.0
The service was fantastic, with staff eager to assist and even join in on friendly conversations. The breakfast staff made a delicious omelette every morning, which I truly appreciated.
Location
8.0
The hotel is located in a serene area, just a short trek down a dirt path to the beach, which was a nice treat. While it felt secluded, it was also just minutes away from bustling Tamarindo with its variety of shops and restaurants.
Dining
7.0
The dining options were lovely but could have offered more variety. Breakfast was included but not very hot, and the hours felt limited.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had a beautiful layout, surrounded by gardens, but I was disappointed that there was no gym available or hot water consistently in the showers.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Cala Luna. The boutique atmosphere was charming, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The food was excellent, especially the breakfasts, but I was disappointed by the rocky beach, which made swimming unappealing. Also, the beds could use improvement as the pillows were quite lumpy. Nevertheless, it was a great place to relax and unwind, especially with the refreshing pool and yoga classes available.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were spacious, clean, and offered a lovely jungle setting with modern amenities. However, the lack of bathtubs was a slight downside for me.
Service
9.0
The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to help with suggestions and arrangements. They were always eager to assist, which made the experience enjoyable.
Location
7.0
The location is both remote and conveniently close to Tamarindo, allowing for a peaceful yet accessible getaway. The beach nearby, unfortunately, was rocky and not ideal for swimming.
Dining
8.0
Breakfasts were fantastic, with lots of healthy options available, but the dinner menu could use more vegetarian choices. Still, the food quality was commendable.
Facilities
7.0
The pool area was refreshing, and the yoga classes were a nice bonus. However, the limited lounge chairs could make finding a spot challenging during peak hours.

I had an incredible five-night stay at Cala Luna with my fiancé! The property is stunning and very private, making it the perfect tropical escape. We started every day with a delicious breakfast, enjoyed the beautiful pool area, and loved the peaceful vibe around the beach. However, our room was a bit near construction, which affected our outdoor seating a little. Overall, this place offers fantastic value for a serene getaway!

We stayed in a fabulous suite that was modern, clean, spacious, and secluded. The shower and tub configuration was unlike any I’ve seen, and the private patio felt exclusive.
Service

The service was outstanding, with the staff accommodating all our requests, including creating a special sashimi appetizer from tuna we caught during a fishing trip. Their attention to detail made our stay unforgettable.
Location

The hotel is surrounded by beautiful tropical forest and offers a short pathway to a calm beach with amazing tide pools. It’s conveniently located just a quick cab ride from the busier Tamarindo.
Dining

The farm-to-table dining was exceptional, with a menu that catered perfectly to our dietary preferences. The quality of the food was clear in every dish, and breakfast was a delightful start to our day.
Facilities

The pool area was gorgeous, with ample loungers and a mix of sun and shade. There’s a lovely beach area where the hotel provides drinks to enjoy the sunset, which was a nice touch.

Cala Luna offered a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, making it a perfect spot for our family getaway and intimate wedding. The rooms were clean and well-decorated, nestled beautifully in the greenery. The staff's dedication to service made our stay even more enjoyable. However, the beach isn't great for swimming due to the rocky areas, and while the dining was delicious, I wished for a bit more variety on the menu.

Rooms
9.0
The rooms were clean and well-maintained, set in a tranquil environment with comfortable beds and good water pressure. The large bathtub was a nice touch.
Service
10.0
The service was outstanding, with the staff always eager to assist and make our stay special, especially during the wedding preparations.
Location

The hotel is situated in a quiet and lush area, a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, though the beach area was more scenic than functional for swimming.
Dining
7.0
The food was excellent, especially the breakfast with fresh fruits and made-to-order dishes, but I felt the dinner menu could have been more extensive.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities were great, including a lovely pool area and access to a private beach, though swimming was limited due to the surroundings.

We had an incredible stay at Cala Luna, where the combination of beautiful surroundings, excellent service, and amazing food left us completely satisfied. The villas were perfect for relaxation, especially with our own private pool. The peaceful atmosphere truly enhanced our vacation, although the beach access required a brief walk, which might not be suitable for everyone. Overall, this place offered great value for a boutique experience, but the limited drink options at the restaurant slightly affected our evenings.
